Structural Scaffolding London
Scaffolding, also called scaffold or staging, is a temporary structure used to support a work crew and materials to aid in the construction, maintenance and repair of buildings, bridges and all other man made structures. The word scaffolding refers to any raised platform or ramp used for ingress and egress for pedestrian movement and/or the passage of building materials. Scaffolding is also used in adapted forms for form work and shoring, grandstand seating, concert stages, access/viewing towers, exhibition stands, ski ramps, half pipes and art projects. The basic components of scaffolding are tubes, couplers and boards.
It is a common practice to use a minimum factor of safety of four in the design of all scaffoldings, meaning that scaffolds and their components can support four times the maximum design load without experiencing failure.
